it was last in 2003 when I tried it.

I don't think I have one left as we don't have the machine I did it for 
anymore. We still have a small sparc whatever lying around so I can try
to resurrect it tomorrow and see what is going to happen.

I used Suns CC and there are still the configuration files around so you
can try just to do configure and make using something like
./configure --with-compiler=CC plus other options and see what is
going to happen. If it goes wrong you can send me the output and
I'll have a look.
