one more suggestion for the documentation (sorry for beeing so late). It just came to my mind. For what I understood there where discussions on test sources/programs which could serve as examples but are hidden among the sources.
In the documentation of VTK (The Visualization Toolkit, www.vtk.org) they have links from the page that documents a class towards a corresponding example, if available (which could be one of the tutorials or one of the test-sources for OpenSG). I found this always very helpful when I use VTK. Even if it is just the source file of the example shown in my browser. I quickly can access the example and see how to use a certain class.
One example: ( http://www.vtk.org/doc/nightly/html/classvtkOutlineFilter.html ) scroll down to "vtkOutlineFilter (Examples)" and so on ......
