maybe a short clarification about my post. Didn't want to upset you, but 
I feel the need for more people to contribute code, the core team 
cannot do everything (especially when they have their hands deep into 
2.0).

Huh, even on my 2 year old AMD64 3800 it takes only 1.5 hours. Setting 
up compilation on windows with cygwin and scons is very easy these days 
(the first time maybe 1-2 hours until you have installed the compiler 
and Paltform SDK which you may have already installed for your own 
projects, after that a simple cvs -z6 up -dP followed by ./scons.bat -i 
is all)  and when running on cvs  the compile times are mostly only 
some minutes if nobody has changed OSGConfig.h or similar

Well, even people from the core team have started small. If it is very 
bad I guess someone will give you a hint how to improve it. And even if 
it gets rejected there is a plus on knowledge so it can't be bad.
