looking at the code createCurrentStateChangeList() seems to be the
better way. The store/restore thing looks like a first simple try to get
dynamic connectivity. 
I'm currently tend to restore only the createCurrentStateChangeList
function as the store/restore pair does not seem to make any sense.

Or does anybody know why one would need both and if so what the 
difference in outcome would be ??
