Christoph Fuenfzig was the designer of the Terrain Node. Given that he hasn't 
answered yet, I'm assuming he doesn't have a design document or anything like 
it. The Terrain Node was never meant to be a full-featured terrain renderer 
with 
pagin or things like that, it's more of an exercise in how to build OpenSG 
NodeCores that dynamically change geometry than anything else. Therefore it 
probably only has a limited API and will not do anything one could want from a 
terrain engine, but only what's needed by the test programs.
