the Virtual Reality Peripheral Network (VRPN, http://www.cs.unc.edu/Research/vrpn/) supports the space navigator. One student working for me had a look at the original toolkit and VRPN and decided that VRPN is the better and easier option. He implemented a class that inherits from SimpleSceneManager and uses the SpaceNavigator. Works well! I think I could send you the code, (as a Visual Studio 2005 Project) but I surely should first check with him ....... the doco would be unfortunately in german :)
