Hi,

I'm in the process of investigatin OpenSG to display OpenMesh meshes.
I will have ~200 meshes with a total of ~2millions triangles
(of course, I can use OpenMesh to decimate the meshes to lower
resoltion, but I want first to try without decimating)

My application will be a CAD-like viewer but displaying a building with
a very fine triangulation, splitted in different parts where each part
has a different color.
Some points (~500) will also be displayed on the "skin" of the building
and the user will have to do a matching point-building part by picking a
point (there are displayed as pyramids) and the colored building parts
to associate to the point.
I will need some OK performance to be able to manipulate the 3d display
quite smooth (I think ~20fps should be fine).
Do you think OpenSG is fast enough to handle that much information on
screen ?

I browsed the mailing list archives and it seems that the VBO can be
used in OpenSG. Is that true ? in 1.8 or in the 2.0 trunk ?
Is the trunk stable enough to be used ? Or is it better to use 1.8 ?
What about antialiasing / multisampling ? Is that included ?
If it's not, maybe I can use something like
http://nehe.gamedev.net/data/lessons/lesson.asp?lesson=46 to set the
good pixelformat before the OpenSG init ?

Thanks,

Stephane
