We're using OpenSG 2.x and Qt4 here and VRML works fine. I haven't seen any issues related to what what's descriged in that thread. Might be an 1.8 issue, or it might be that we use OpenSG/Qt differently. (We are loading VRML, but not in a dialog. We're not using the Qt window, but a passive window in a QGLWidget.)
