we've run OpenSG 1.8 on clusters up to 70 nodes. It worked fine for us, but mostly for sort-first/sort-last, so not targeted at very high frame rates. I'm not aware of any limitations on that front, but I don't think anybody has tried it already, so there might still be something that's not optimal. Where do you have a cave with 48 nodes?
