Another thought. Have you tried with the development version ? For sample download the trunk (with bazaar=>http://www.openshotusers.com/help/1.3/en/ar01s29.html#sect2_84) and test it run only in the bin repertory openshot.py.

This does not always happen, but is easy to reproduce simply by using the resize tool and clicking in different places on a clip until it crashes.
