You are using a very old version of MLT (3 years ago). A lot of bug corrections have been included since this time at once for MLT and for Openshot. It is already done for software which provide an incompatible (e.g. Blender 2.4.9 and 2.6.0). Another exemple : your version of FFmpeg works great but with this one, you can not export in Webm because this function has been included after this one. Open source projects are living and it is better to use their PPA when they are available for bug corrections and new features.
