I'm using Ubuntu GNOME Remix 12.10 with OpenShot 1.4.3 and I have the same bug. I don't know which version of MLT I have (I have all packages up to date, so the version should be the one included in the distro I'm using). Everytime the project saves the RAM usage grows by 100Mb. I had to disable the auto-save in order to use Openshot for more than 10 minutes. Disabling the auto-save I can now use it for more time, but after 15-20 minutes (probably depending on how many times I play the project) Openshot's using all my 4GB RAM and my 3GB SWAP too, and I feel oblied to ALT-F1 "sudo kill OPENSHOTPID". I will try to check my MLT version and update it to the latest. I will let you know what will happen by editing this post.

The more I play them, the more memory is used. I see in HTOP that it's exactly OpenShot's memory, not OS file caching. After 30-60 minutes, my computer becomes unusable, I have to close and restart OpenShot. Fortunately, this cures the issue, but it's very inconvenient. I have 4Gb of RAM and 4Gb of swap, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, OpenShot 1.4.0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/openshot/+bug/1119138/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~openshot.bugs Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~openshot.bugs More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
