I don't know how do you record your videos (i.e. which sofware do you use) but two thoughts : -ogv format is worse managed on Linux. It is FFmpeg2theora usually use for this task but there are a bug in the last version not resolved and like the project is dead................well it is not the video codec to use. - Recordnow (which use ffmpeg2theora like core engine for recording) give some videos with issues.
