Olivier, with due respect, it's invalid to label this bug report as
Invalid because although i did make a mistake, it wasn't only my
mistake. openshot made FOUR mistakes as well.

let me try to clarity:

1. i overlaid a video clip on top of a still image on the same track (or the
other way around, i can't remember now). openshot made its first mistake in
allowing me to do this. it should have flagged a user error and/or
automatically created a new track so the user can see what's happened.
2. openshot's second mistake was to let the underlaid still image be hidden
from the user's view.
3. i would never have known about the still image had i not left a gap after
the end of the video clip as i keep clips well apart until i want them stitched
together. that's the situation in the screenshot i shared with you.
openshot's third mistake was to show the hidden still image in the Preview
AFTER the end of the clip, possibly because it automatically positioned the
still image there when the overlay occurred. that's a mistake, because it had
positioned an image at a different place in the timeline to where the user
thought he wanted it.
4. openshot's fourth mistake was to not give an indication on the timeline
that it had placed the still image at the end of the video clip. you can see
for yourself that at that point, the timeline is empty, yet an image appears in
the Preview window. that's not an indication, it's a ghost!

talking of ghosts, happy christmas :)
