Public bug reported: When I import an mp3 file, right-click, and select "Preview File", OpenShot starts using gigabytes of memory. It increases at a rate of 1GB every 5 seconds or so. The memory stays in use after stopping the playback, and is only released when I close OpenShot.
I installed OpenShot today from the Ubuntu PPA (version 2.1.0). I've attached a public domain mp3 file that causes this for me. Neither ffplay nor melt seem to have a problem with the file. $ uname -a Linux skylar-Gazelle 4.2.0-36-generic #42~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 13 17:27:22 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ cat /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint DISTRIB_RELEASE=17.3 DISTRIB_CODENAME=rosa DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa" $ ffmpeg -version ffmpeg version N-80901-gfebc862 Copyright (c) 2000-2016 the FFmpeg developers built with gcc 4.8 (Ubuntu 4.8.4-2ubuntu1~14.04.3) configuration: --extra-libs=-ldl --prefix=/opt/ffmpeg --mandir=/usr/share/man --enable-avresample --disable-debug --enable-nonfree --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --enable-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --disable-decoder=amrnb --disable-decoder=amrwb --enable-libpulse --enable-libfreetype --enable-gnutls --enable-libx264 --enable-libx265 --enable-libfdk-aac --enable-libvorbis --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopus --enable-libvpx --enable-libspeex --enable-libass --enable-avisynth --enable-libsoxr --enable-libxvid --enable-libvidstab $ melt -version No LADSPA plugins were found!
