I've recently tried OPENSHOT, a user mentioned it in a blendernation comment yesterday. As an experienced multimedia user living in Argentina, i often found myself frustrated by the video editing software available on ubuntu and linux in general. In my country, the possibility of buying a commercial software licence is a LUXURY, that sadly very few can afford. Off course piracy is an easy way out, but a frustrating one too, more if you want to make a career based in multimedia. That's why i use ubuntu, and i fell in love with it. My first life savior software was the powerfull blender, opening the 3d world to me and many other artists, without any creative restriction. But the lack of an equal powerfull and really all-task-friendly video editor was allways dissapointing to me. (and not only me, off course) My first attempts on video editing, many years ago, when i was in my learning process, where done in the great Adobe premiere (7 i think) running over a pirate copy of win98se, with an old AT celeron 400... but i managed to do several lo res editing anyway. And off course i teached myself several tricks to save cpu processing memory. So, you got the picture. I tell you all this because i want you to figure HOW SIGNIFICANT is for me your OPENSHOT project. I can spend several hours developing my skills to master a software, but i cannot spend several hours just triying to figure out how to make a simple basic action in a software that was supossed to easily cover that. Or triyng to find a workaround to bypass a limitation of that software. And, again, i'm not the only one. You, Jonathan, are a bless. I used the latest work in progress version of open shot for only 5 minutes before writting you this letter. I know how to recognize a GREAT software when i try it. And OPENSHOT IS WITHOUT A DOUBT, the FIRST user friendly, powerfull, and made for the artist video editor in Open source and free software All around. So i want to THANK YOU, for sharing your years of expertice of programming and designing great software. Thank you for your great criteria, skills and most of all YOUR GENEROSITY. What you have in your hands right now, this project, is A GIFT to people like me. And i want to encourage you to keep going with such amazing work. You are opening the gates to MANY, by using this software, or by following your example. You are making and giving this for free, and by doing it, you are making this caotic and selfish world a little better. And i have no DOUBT that in the long road, you will be very rewarded.
