window doesn't repaint after action

Bug description:
When ever I do an action like importing files or opening projects, the window
will not repaint correctly (see screenshot)
The toolbar doesn't get it's icons back, the Video Preview losses it's "tab"
and border.

Ubuntu 9.10 32 bit and 10.4 64 bit
