Status in OpenShot Video Editor: Invalid
Bug description:
32 bit Ubuntu 9.04 version. I installed all dependencies without errors and
the application itself installed without any errors. All were installed from
the .deb's. Open shot version 0.9.22
The terminal shows the following error on startup:
/usr/local/share/openshot/main/windows/SimpleGladeApp.py:338: GtkWarning:
gtk_toolbar_set_icon_size: assertion `icon_size != GTK_ICON_SIZE_INVALID' failed
return gtk.glade.XML(self.glade_path, root, domain)
Fontconfig error: "~/.fonts.conf", line 1: XML or text declaration not at start
of entity
I created a short video using a total of 7 tracks with mixed video, audio and
stills. I added animation to all the stills and put transitions between them.
There were also transitions between all the video clips. The videos are .avi,
the audio is .mp3 and the stills are .jpg.
With the project in this state. I pressed the play button to preview the
project. It played smoothly till it reached the first transition from video to
.jpg which combined a transition with the zoom in 100 to 150% animation. The
music sound track started to break up during the transitions, but cleared once
the first still was finished. Upon reaching the 3rd or 4th still, the program
just quit unexpectedly. The terminal also shut down at the same time, so no
error messages could be seen.
The first project I created did not have the stills or animations and that one
went very well. This is the most stable and easiest to use video editor I have
used in Linux so far. Very impressive. It took a lot of simultaneous things
to get it to crash. At this point I think it's almost as stable as Windows
movie maker 2 in Windows XP. I used to save constantly in that just in case it
crashed, which it did regularly. But it was quite usable, nevertheless. I am
hoping to see the same level of usability here. This project has the potential
to become the default video editor in Ubuntu.
I also have 2 feature requests which I will submit separately.
