Please try converting the PNG to a JPEG using Gimp (or similar image editor)
and test again. I'm wondering if it's related to the PNG format. If the
JPEG works fine, please test a few other PNG files on your computer, and see
if they all get distorted. Thanks!

Some images import incorrectly
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/658868

Status in OpenShot Video Editor: Confirmed

Bug description:
Sometimes, when importing an image, the preview ends up broken. When you try to
play the file, it shows up incorrectly. The problem seems to be some incorrect
calculation of the stride (aka width+padding) of the image, so that each line
is shorter than it should be and you get a sort of diagonalized thing.

See the attached sample image and how it looks in OpenShot.
