Greetings everyone! I am back from SCALE 9x, and it was a really fun conference. I got to meet hundreds of OpenShot fans and users, meet one of the main Inkscape developers, and gave a presentation titled "OpenShot: Lights, Camera, Action!". The booth was busy with interested attendees the entire weekend. I was not even able to stop for lunch due to the amount of traffic at the booth. My presentation was given to a packed room of over 100 attendees, and streamed LIVE on the internet. The video and ODP will be available soon on the SCALE website.
*So, what did I learn?* People really love OpenShot! The SCALE organizers emailed me and said my presentation was one of the 2 highest rated presentations at the event this year! And they really hope I return next year for another presentation. *Most requested features:* As people stopped by and talked with me, here are the most requested features of the weekend: 1. Import of MLT XML (i.e. not as a single clip, but more like a project file). Also, import of EDL files (edit decision lists), supported by many commercial video editors. 2. Firewire support 3. DVD ISO creation 4. Improved Key Frame animation Here are some snapshots from my presentation. I'll be honest, it was pretty scary up on that stage, with the cameras, PA system, wireless mic, etc... But everyone laughed and clapped, and seemed to enjoy the presentation, so the nerves went away pretty quick. =) Hopefully some of you can attend next year's SCALE conference with me... as I do plan on going again. Maybe we can have a fund raiser, and try and collect enough money for airfare and hotel for 1 or 2 developers to attend next year.
