Creating a "conf"-directory is a definitive ++. One could also condier resource and temp directories or something like that and leave only binaries to bin directory. Having runtime data under bin is not what one would expect. Take any application which has bin-directory and they store runtime data to some other dedicated directory and have only binaries under bin.
