When I was still there, it was ~30, running in an "n-2" mode (i.e. you can lose up to two nodes without losing anything). The asset server wasn't MySQL, but was a third party "solution" from Isilon; the interface was via REST. Your inventory (not the assets themselves, but the list of asset IDs that you have in your inventory) was stored in MySQL databases.
