Thanks to Ubit for the useful notes on OpenSim side limits and protocols for recently changing features which OpenSim compatible viewers need to take into account especially to be friendly to grids that are on older versions of OpenSim and do not include recent server side changes.

As Cinder mentioned, if patches can be created for OpenSim viewers like Alchemy that are also relevant to Firestorm also it would be great if they could be passed over there to their developers. Jessica over at Firestorm has said they will look at specifically proposed patches for the current server version being worked on...

>> we cannot adapt to new Opensim features without direct communication via viewer patch contributions, ... >> we can only adopt or implement new features based on the current server version being worked on.

If anyone with the viewer side knowledge can create a Firestorm relevant patch that addresses the protocol check and limits avatar texture and bakes sent to older OpenSim grids to protect them as well that would also be great.
