I have been using fire secual version 8 for the last 2 years with opensimulator. In the MySQL settings you need to make the default authentication MySQL native password. You also need to turn SSL off. After that you need to make sure that the user that accesses the opensimulator database authenticate with MySQL native password. The previous problems with having to manually change the collate no longer apply.
