if you take a look at the source code
(OpenSim/Region/OptionalModules/Avatar/Chat/ChannelState, you'll see that if one
of server, nick, channel, user is null you'll get that exception.
looking at the log statements above, it's user which is null.

Unfortunately I cannot read source code, and the wiki gives no instructions on
how to, or where to, make user equal to something other than null, and what
value user should be. Could you enlighten me please.
