Hi, Freeswitch will work on Ubuntu- after much searching and angst, I found the following instructions worked to the letter http://maxping.org/resources/how-to/install/freeswitch-on-ubunutu.aspx/ In fact, maxping.org is a great resource for all things OpenSim, especially if you are running it on linux! I've got Freeswitch running on Ubuntu 10.10 but had it running under 10.04 as well. Might be worth taking a look at the Mumble implementation as well- I am going to test it- just waiting on my delivery of the 36hr day :) All the best,

Tried a lot of things and removed those errors but it didnt work. I picked up the female avie for free when I was on RG. Nothing to write home about and surely not $500 worth of goodness. Fabulous avatars can be found in SL for $10 - $100 max. One of the reasons I stopped using RG was the lack of enough stores with reasonably priced merchandise to build and equip from. YMMV. - s On Oct 17, 2010, at 11:19 AM, Lindy McKeown wrote: > There is one for sale at > http://outpost.reactiongrid.com/Category/71-avatars.aspx > Lindy > > > On 16 October 2010 23:59, Zane Legion <[email protected]> wrote: > I've just upgraded Twisted Sky grid to 0.7 and wondering what other grid > owners are using for a web interface to handle user registrations. > > I have tried WIFI, which is OK but there seems to be no way specify a start > region and no method of verifying that a new user has specified a valid email > address. I can do this either with a browser or by playing inside OpenSim, and I would like to know which is easier." I seem to recall that, at one point, there was only one texture per parcel that could play a video stream, and that stream would be obtained from a specific URL set up by the land owner? This is rather tedious and error-prone, as it was an afterthought by Linden and needed to allow users to interface via the client, not any other mechanism. It might be possible to change the URL dynamically via a script, but then the URL change will affect all viewers of that texture simultaneously. The better bet is probably to trigger an external browser. This allows you to keep all of your URLs in a script, and update them at once rather than one at a time. It also allows you to control your users' experience much more closely. -Kyle H On Sun, Oct 17, 2010 at 12:25 PM, Ric Moore <[email protected]> wrote: > On Sun, 2010-10-17 at 12:13 +0200, Marc St?rmer wrote: >> Am 17.10.2010 09:20, schrieb Ric Moore: >> >> > I've been looking for a way to deliver video content from within >> > OpenSim. You hit the nail on the head, thank you. That is the point to control the "experience". As we're using this as a prison rehab tool, and the main purpose is to direct the "client" towards instructional videos, sending the "client" to a video in a browser would take load off of the server? I would think so. Do you know where I can find a how-to, written simply, to teach me how to do this? I will be forever in your debt.
