Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: The computer tab is an Imprudence feature; it's not present
in other viewers. It allows you to preview local files from your disk
drive how they would look in-world. The changes you make this way will
only be visible to you (and not others present in the same scene, unless
I'm mistaken) and will not persist when you log off. To make permanent
changes, you need to upload a texture and apply it from your inventory.
Note that temporarily uploaded images (when the temporary checkbox is
checked before upload) will also not persist.

Imprudence.app 1.4.0 Experimental
I have two .png files in a folder on my computer. I set them as
textures for some objects in my region by clicking the Computer tab,
then using the 'Add' button. My objects look fine in these textures and
I can manipulate them as I see fit. I quit my OpenSim client (not the
server, just Imprudence) then restart it, and the objects are still
there but they have no texture, and the entries are missing from the
list shown under the 'Computer' tab. Reselect them and everything works
as expected until the next quit.
On the other hand, if I import or upload (not sure of the difference)
the textures into the server, they survive.
Is this how things are meant to work ?
