You cannot run Groups in standalone only. If you're using the flotsam's
Groups implementation, you need at the very least an external Apache Web
server to run the service itself.

InuYasha, I do feel a lot of sympathy for what you're saying but the
blunt fact of the matter is that OpenSim is very technical alpha
software. As you've found out, getting features beyond the basics
working is complicated, often poorly or even conflictingly documented
and may well involve hanging about and asking people on IRC (which can
often generate no responses if everyone is busy/elsewhere).
I think that's just the nature of cutting edge volunteer-led
open-source projects, especially one such as this where the
architecture is extremely distributed. It's not worth ruining your
health over. If things get too much I would seriously suggest leaving
it for a while and coming back in a year or two, when things will
(hopefully!) have improved.
You may also want to consider a hosted solution. Running 49 regions
on a single machine is also asking a lot technically, depending on how
much activity/prims/scripts are on those regions.
As for groups, it is possible to get them running on standalone. I
can't remember what you may have written about this before. With
Flotsam, it should be a case of following the instructions at
http://code.google.com/p/flotsam/wiki/XmlRpcGroups. However, this
code is only very lightly maintained. You might also want to check
out the other groups alternatives at

You can see what I am running via my tag line. I have fought with it
in the past with no luck. I have help for someone
who it seems part way through went off to college and I have not been
able to continue on and make it work. Can someone
tel me am I confused? It is really possible to get groups to work in
a standalone with just the standalone and no robust
servers etc.
I am starting to think I misunderstood and that I got confused about
tit. Kind of the way I wasted all kinds of time
trying to get voice working with freeswitch only to find freeswitch
don't allow the owner of the sim to use a DYNDNS
name server and a permanent IP must be used instead. I asked
questions on and on, only to find out this bit of
information later.
So I am starting to believe that is the problem with groups. Maybe I
never asked the right question and running the
groups module may be impossible with a standalone. I am loosing my
patience with all this, I have been staying up late
and waking up in the middle of the night over all this, over
something that was supposed to be fun. It isn't worth what
little health I have left.
Distraught and feel wrecked,
InuYasha.
