That's good advice from Simon. Remember that the osgrid distro will be set up to connect to osgrid. The config will
need changes to do an independent standalone/grid.
I would hope that the OpenSim 0.7.1.1 release would be fine with Mono 2.6.7 on a Mac OSX. That's near to what I was
last using.

Went through the same thing. Took me ages to find a working combination of
stuff. What I ended up with is this:
Mono
----
You want at least mono 2.6.7 from
http://www.go-mono.com/mono-downloads/download.html
I seemed to need both the 'Framework' and the 'CSDK' installed (either order).
I don't understand why. Some stuff about the OS X installation is here, though
you don't need to understand it:
http://www.mono-project.com/Mono:OSX
OpenSim
-------
Download from here whatever they say is 'Current Release':
http://www.osgrid.org/index.php/downloads
It's precompiled. Just put it in a folder, cd to the 'bin' subdirectory and
type
mono OpenSim.exe
at which point it'll complain because you didn't do the configuration properly.
But at least it'll run. Configuring it requires knowledge of your intended
setup, but is the same across all platforms so it's easier to find help on the
net.
Client software
---------------
Imprudence from the above page works fine, but so does anything else that'll
actually run.
Simon.
