Hi Chris. It's not possible to do this from libomv, as it's a mechanism
peculiar to OpenSim.

It is possible to call create user remotely via OpenSim's RemoteAdmin [1] interface for a standalone. On a grid, this is more difficult, though the latest code (0.7.3 dev and 0.7.2-post-fixes) does allow you to turn a switch (off by default) to expose a createuser POST query on the services which will create a user remotely. Unfortunately, this is not currently documented and is insecure in an open grid environment.

The Diva distro also has code to create a user. Unfortunately, it needs to be recompiled before it will work with current dev code.

The final option, as always, is to fiddle with the database directly. This is
what I suspect wiredux, etc., are doing.

Folks,

from within libOMV can an OpenSim "create user" be called?

if so, can someone point me to the libOMV function or the write-ups?

thanks,

Chris

correctly

Linda might have saved her content with the --profile switch which puts in
name of this type (but only for the
creator!). I believe Kitely may be doing this as well.

I'm at a loss as to why you may be seeing this format without hypergrid
turned on. It might be worth testing another
viewer though I doubt that will make a difference.

That's very strange - there's no way that such things should be showing
up as owner names. Have you tried clearing
viewer cache? Does it look like this in all viewers? Does it look like
this in the UserAccounts table of the database?
Have you tried turning off hypergrid? Are you using a fairly standard
viewer? What do you see if you type "show users"
on the simulator console when logged in?

I see names of that format when I click on an object giver from a Linda
Kellie OAR I've loaded on my local SIM. Linda
doesn't have an user account here of course so that makes a certain
amount of sense...

If I rez a new object myself the same format shows up with objects I am
creator for. This is on a recent HEAD checkout
using Firestorm Mesh Beta as the viewer. Hypergrid isnt enable. Show
users on the console looks fine. (as expected). I
haven't checked the database but I suspect its also fine.

Yes it does. I am creating a teleporter and the object shows up with

to have names not UUID. Owner and creator names are not showing just
that address.

Seeing this as gridserver.net:8002/app/agent/

that would control this.

One might see this for a creator if an object has been loaded from
certain IARs or come from the hypergrid, but
seeing it in owner too is extremely odd. The owner will always have a
real UUID underneath so in principle having
an odd name like this shouldn't cause other issues.

Does this happen when users create objects, users who otherwise can
login with their normal names?

Hi all,

I am having a bit of an issue with the UUID's of an objects owner and
creator not showing up properly. I beleive
this is
also causing an issue with several functions in lsl such as llDialog
and any uuid based function.

Normally the UUID should look something like this

Creator: e88371e5-439c-4afe-93c1-__aad810b0198c

Owner: e88371e5-439c-4afe-93c1-__aad810b0198c

but instead come out something like this:

Creator:
gridserver.net:8002/app/agent/__e88371e5-439c-4afe-93c1-__aad810b0198c

<http://gridserver.net:8002/app/agent/e88371e5-439c-4afe-93c1-aad810b0198c>

Owner:
gridserver.net:8002/app/agent/__e88371e5-439c-4afe-93c1-__aad810b0198c

We run multiple servers. Our main server is the grid server running
robust, and the other servers connect to the
grid
server and just use OpenSim.exe (so obviously we are running this in
grid mode) any idea on how to get this
issue fixed?
is it a setting in OpenSim.exe or in Robust?

Thanks!

Joshua
