To check my new simulator configuration (setup from a virgin 0.8 
tarball), I moved it to the grid host and the problem persists. So 
there is obviously a basic problem with my configuration.

I will compare my configuration to the configuration I use for the 6 
working simulators of the grid and expect to find my mistake soon.
