Hello,
I am sharing another experiment of mine. It's a delight when you are able
to connect Art and Mathematics. In this video, I describe the origins of
the Mondrian Puzzle. Pietr Mondrian was a Dutch painter and theoretician
who is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. His
Art, neoplasticism has influenced many Art movements including minimalism
and the Bauhaus movement. I start with an overview of what he wanted to
achieve, point to his trajectory as an artist and present a Mathematical
puzzle his work has inspired. This puzzle has not yet been solved for
general cases. It is an interesting puzzle in that it is easy to understand
and yet difficult to solve without brute force techniques. The content of
this presentation was created in opensim using one of our tools. Your views
are welcome as usual.
