All,

I submitted Bug# 3137585 against OpenSLP's slptool yesterday as an
enhancement to add the ability to provide a lifetime (timeout) for
services when registerring them manually via slptool. As part of that
enhancement I included the code to make the change to 2.0-beta1 and
1.2.0, both downloaded via the Files section of OpenSLP's area on
Sourceforge. The code, at least in the 2.0 beta, works nicely and now
I can manually create services with timeouts less-than the maximum
possible time for a service (65535).

Before I commit this code to either version of OpenSLP I have two
problems. First, after downloading the code I was able to compile the
2.0 code but cannot compile the 1.2 version because of a missing
Mikefile.in (going from memory... one of the Makefiles anyway) file.
The code between the two is very similar and I think it's valid but
without being able to compile it, who knows. The other problem is
verifying functionality on a platform other than Linux (thinking
specifically about the poor souls stuck on windows).

With that in mind, can somebody verify the fix is valid? I'm not a
wonderful C programmers so I'm open to any suggestions on how to
improve the code overall. It is a very basic fix (allow a new
optional parameter and otherwise default as before) and is comprised
of maybe a dozen lines of real code.

Thanks,
Aaron
