Roel/John,

Those patches originated from me, I'd suggest they are still useful.  We do use 
those changes here and they clean up the build, improve portability and remove 
erroneous warnings.  As for testing - we are confident that it works well with 
itself as an slp platform and we've been using this in house since those 
patches were submitted (which was now quite a while ago).  What we haven't done 
is performed any significant or formal interoperability testing with other 
flavours of openslp 2.0 beta to see if we've broken something at a protocol or 
behavioural level.  Although I'd be surprised if that was the case.  Hope that
