Hird,

Yes, I did set all timeout values for 3000,3000,3000,3000,3000. I even had
tried to set them to 30000, but seems it did not help too much. I didn't
try to use DA in my environment. To be honest, I don't know if we can adopt
DA in our case. There is no native DA in our environment. So if I setup a
server to run as DA, before discovering all SAs, I don't know how to have
these devices to register their information in DA since I have no idea
about how many devices there are and where there are. Is there a solution
for this case?

I guess there probably is a response flood from SAs after UA set out a
broadcast message.

In your environment, is there any DAs running?

Thank you for your reply.

 Best Regards

rather than expand MAX_RETRANSMITS, have you extended the net.slp.timeout
values for both multicast and unicast?

have you consisdered using DAs with scopes? we have a system that has
thousands of devices and don't have any problems.

cheers
Matt

Yes, I changed to 2000, which should be large enough for me.

Hi Zhan,

Are you sure your net.slp.maxResults property is large enough? I think by
default slptool can only retrieve 256 services.

cheers,
Matt

Subject: [Openslp-users] Is there a way to expand MAX_RETRANSMITS?

Hello,

We have an environment which can have hundreds of (or even more than that,
thousands of) devices that can be discovered by SLP protocol. But our
experiment shows it's hard for slptool to discover all these devices. After
looking into the source code, it seems openslp (actually libslp) hardcoded
the max transmitting time to 5 (MAX_RETRANSMITS in libslp.h). And that
probably is not enough in our environment.

Is there a way for users to customize the max retransmit number?

Thank you.
