It took two developers about a week to get most of the calls synced up for the Javascript API. We had a head start since we already had an API server that emits XML/JSON for Atom and FOAF. Oh, and we had to add a persistence model to our API server to fully accomodate that part of the API. http://www.hi5networks.com/developer/ has some information available. More to be added soon.
