In looking through the documentation for OpenSocial, it seems it is only possible to use the API from within a "container" like Orkut. When I first heard about OpenSocial, I was very excited because I assumed this meant an API for any website to authenticate and read/ write data from a social network (similar to the Google Calendar Javascript API). This would be very powerful and enable sites that aggregate data from multiple OpenSocial-supported networks. Without this ability, OpenSocial is no longer nearly as interesting. Is this ability possible (maybe I'm missing something) or going to be built in the future?
