OpenSocket is a Fa cebook application that can host any Google Gadget - what makes it really exciting is that it can also run OpenSocial apps(providing access to Facebookviewer, friends and all the available profile data ).
Right now OpenSocket is in beta and not all of the OpenSocial API is implemented. The main intention behind OpenSocket is to encourage Facebook to join the other social networks using one common API so we (developers) can focus on providing really cool apps instead of porting them to different APIs based on the containers. We hope to release as open source to help other container developers in the future. The application is at: http://apps. facebook.com/opensocket/<http://apps.facebook.com/opensocket/> ; there you will recognize the classic OpenSocial example ( frienddump) as a demo and two more examples. At the moment, you will not be allowed to try your own gadgets directly - but we would really like you to share your OpenSocial gadgets (that use the 'social' functionality), so please get in touch if you have any we could try out in our Facebook container. See http://www.opensocket.org/ for more information. We look forward to feedback from you, the developers!
