Hi, If you want to interact with your server and databases, you have to use the _IG_FetchContent(url, func) function. This function makes an interaction between the container ( orkut.com) and your server.
You can, for example, send the id of the person (as in person.getId()) as a parameter in "url" to get some personal content in your base. But remember that you are using Javascript, and all the access can be spoofed. Take this in mind when using remote content. http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/docs/remote-content.html#Fetch_text On Nov 22, 2007 6:22 AM, Section One <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hello, > > i'm an asp programmer. > i just started reading about OpenSocial and there is something very > basic that i'm not clear about after reading all the docs and viewing > all the videos and campfires and barbeques... > > With referring to this example link: > http://code.google.com/apis/opensocial/articles/firstgadget.html > > how does opensocial know to connect to my site's database, go to the > sql server's tables and get the user information out of there? > how does it know whats the column name of the user's main picture..? > > basically what i'm asking is how opensocial can interact with my > existing database? > > > thank you. > > > > -- Luciano --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "OpenSocial API Definition" group.
