If you've been following the shindig development you'll find that all the legacy _IG calls are supported.
For the other direction, I believe that we will see a version of iGoogle that supports the new gadgets.* calls at some point. Just look at the 0.7 spec, anything not directly related to people/friends moved from opensocial.* to gadgets.* ..... -----Original Message----- From: "poncz" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subj: [OpenSocial] Different Gadget API for iGoogle and OpenSocail Date: Wed Feb 20, 2008 1:11 am Size: 1K To: "OpenSocial - OpenSocial Application Development" <[email protected]> In the past weeks OpenSocail API are becoming more and more distant from the original iGoogle gadget API. In OpenSocial API 0.6 even the gadget spec has changed. Now all iGoogle functions have a different name and implementation in OpenSocial. Having two different gadget APIs bad for iGoogle/OpenSocial and for the developers community. OpenSocial platforms will not be able to enjoy most of iGoogle super cool, ready made gadgets and vice versa. Developers will have to support both APIs or give up on one of the platforms, so in the future, both platforms will have less quality gadgets. This issue cannot be solved with a simple converter(/compiler) because maintenance/ code change/ ui change will become a hassle. iGoogle API: http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/docs/dev_guide.html openSocial gadget API: http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/docs/spec.html What does Google think to do about it?
