Hello,

I'm new to Open Social and I would like to now how difficult it is to
integrate an existing WebApp into an Open Social capable Network (for
example Orkut).
The Application is written in Java with Java Server Faces and JSF
Component libraries Trinidad and MyFaces.
I want to extend it with Social Network-Functionality (inviting
Friends to use the application, show Friend's Profiles with Fotos,
push News Feeds, etc.) without changing my whole WebApp.

In Facebook for example it's possible to use an IFrame to embedd
existing Webapps without restrictions in using Javascript. The Social
Network-Functionality is done by an Facebook API for Server-to-server-
Communication (no use of FBML).

Is this also possible with Open Social? I have seen that Open Social
provides a RESTful Data API. Can I use it instead of using the Java
Script API? I know that this solution could lead to less performace
but
I don't like to use the Java Script API because I fear that I have to
change the whole Presentation Layer and I dont want to have several
Versions of my application - one for Facebook, one for Open Social
Platforms and one for standalone web application. Maybe I cannot avoid
having several Versions but using the Data API is less invasive I
think.

It would be nice, if anyone could give me some tips.

Thanks,

Daniel
