I think you want the OpenSocial REST API, which hasn't been defined or implemented yet: http://opensocialapis.blogspot.com/2008/03/opensocial-for-rest-of-us-proposal-for.html
Right now the Javascript API lets OpenSocial apps/gadgets talk to 3rd parties such as your personal website. So an app living within an OpenSocial container can get data from or post data to your server. However, to go the other way and talk to Orkut from your personal website, you'll probably want to wait for the REST API.
