Once you have finished building your app, submit it for getting white listed 
for directory here- http://www.orkut.com/AppDirectorySubmit.aspx .
i myself was struggling with javascript in beginning.. you can get more help on 
javascript here- http://www.w3schools.com/js/default.asp , esp this 
http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_obj_intro.asp for object oriented programming 
with javascript and how to use the opensocial api. that should be more than 
enough, it won't take much time as you already have done programming in php 
etc..
