Actually, I realize now that this isn't even the right way to do what I want to do. In our container users will be able to share dashboards which contain gadgets. The sharing will be done differently than in other containers that I've seen. Where everyone else seems to share via "sending" the gadget configuration(s) to other users, in our container users will actually be looking at the same actual dashboard. As such they' different users could have different abilities to modify gadgets on the dashboard. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any standard way in the spec to tell gadget authors about such permissions, so we may have to roll our own solution.
