Some of us here in the northern portion of the Lone Star State are planning an OpenSocial developer event sometime in the next month or so. (The Facebook Dev Garage event was so much fun, we thought OpenSocial deserved equal time)
The plan is to have an introduction to writing OpenSocial apps in the morning, and a breakout session on OpenSocial containers in the afternoon (for people who have a site with social features and want to expose out the OpenSocial API to their users.) We want to keep things relatively small (<100 people) and very focused on developers who are currently working on apps (or containers). The organizers are doing it for fun, and as a way to turn the random group of developers working on social network applications in North Texas into something more like a community. Which brings me to my questions. First: Getting approved for a developer account takes more than just a couple of minutes. My thought was to try to get some generic dev accounts to use in the tutorial portion of the event, so that people could actually try out their apps without having to sign up a week in advance. Anyone know of any sites that might allow this? (I seem to remember Hi5 approved my dev account very quickly, but I hate to depend on that. (I'll be writing directly to the dev evangelists of the various social network sites, but any hints about who to approach are greatly appreciated) Also, has anyone done an event like that addressed the container side of things? I can put together a basic intro, and get people up and running with the Java or PHP Shindig code bases, but if there's a pre-existing curriculum I can steal, all the better... Thanks for any help, -cks -- Christopher St. John http://artofsystems.blogspot.com --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Implementing OpenSocial Containers" group.
