First of all what you should do is install shindig and partuza (a php
app that implements much/most? of the features you'll need to mirror
in your own application)
Just that in itself is quiet a lot of work an installation tutorial is
here:
http://chrisschalk.com/shindig_docs/io/shindig-io.html

I found this quiet a good overview of opensocial containers:
http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/columns/opensocial_overview_how_opensocial_works_and_integrate_with_cms

and this post for getting shindig's modrewrite working:

Hi everybody.
I am a php developer and I want to host an opensocial site with php
and mysql.
I am new to opensocial and I've read this tutorals:http://
code.google.com/apis/opensocial/docs/0.8/spec.html,http://
code.google.com/apis/opensocial/articles/tutorial/tutorial-0.8...,
but I still can't understand how can I make relation between my
database and my opensocial application.
I will be very happy, if you show me some examples or/and
explanations.
Thank you
