Probably you have read from Orkut Developer blog

that issue 72 is fixed now, so that UserPref section not causing bad
server errors. Not much help for me anyway, since user prefs are
viewer prefs, not owner prefs. I can imagine these can be used to set
some security options for a viewer, for example not to allow some
action for an app whatever profile visiting. But still no possibility
for an owner to set his preferences, like application colors or
default usercodes. So I am using my own inputboxes and
newUpdatePersonAppDataRequest for updates. I am using application
level variables (defined at the beginning of <script> section) to
store and retrieve so that callback function will store value returned
by newFetchPersonAppDataRequest and other function will be able to use
it when callback completed. Inconvenient - let's hope it will take not
so long time for Google to implement new version of user prefs
(possible in addition to viewer prefs and with setpref function only
for app owner). It seems there are no other options.
