From my understanding, and I could be wrong, you just added the application to your profile. You can define how your profile appears to everyone, whether that's with the widget or not.
My profile is defined to not display the widget I'm working on. I haven't gotten to the part where the widget is published,.. I'm still running into problems with opensocial stuff.
