You can start with basic hello world example over here-

Instead of publishing the content in the html file here you put it in the XML
tag. Use the opensocial javascript api to add social functionality to your app.
You can process data on your server by calling the asp.net script using
makeRequest() from opensocial API.
OpenSocket is in its very early stages, last time i checked it user has to
click the gadget once in profile view to load it.
