OpenSocial is fully backwards compatible -- as long as you include
<Require feature="opensocial-0.7"/>, you can continue using the older
API in both sandbox and production without any worries. Since orkut's
implementation of v0.8 is largely semantic, you should just do this
until production is outfitted with v0.8. Then you can update your code
in one fell swoop and avoid the hassle of maintaining several
branches.
